Tough princess He managed to close up most of the hole by putting the boards against what was left of the door, then stacking the hay against them as high as he could. Despite that the temperature was still low enough to see his breath. The snowstorm had caught them by surprise as it wasn't expected this early and this fierce. Triok, the human servant to vixen princess Mirian had adviced her against going into the wilderness today as he didn't want to take a chance with her but as stubborn as she was, she still sneaked out of the castle for some adventuring. He was glad he caught up with her quickly as his head would roll if something happened to her. But by then the clouds had gathered and they were too far into the wilderness to outrun the snow. Luckily they found an old shed once used by hunters and he tried to keep the wind out as best as he could. He used the lantern found on a table to go through the cupboard in the corner and found a large blanket. 'I think we'll have to share the blanket if we want to keep from freezing tonight. There's no firewood available and even if there was, the fireplace doesn't look like it can be used with the chimney being closed.' 'Tsk.' she said angrily. 'I don't need that. I'm not cold like some hairless baka.' 'Fine.' he said and wrapped himself in the stuffy blanket, creating a place for him to get comfortable. 'Don't go blame me when your nose turns to ice and falls off.' Both sat silent for some minutes when he noticed her shuddering a couple of times. She curled up more and rubbed along her arms. Despite being a furred creature she didn't get much of a protective winter fur living inside a warm castle during the cold season since birth. 'Oh for fuck's sake!' he said, got up, grabbed her hand, pulling her up and back to his spot where he sat down, pulling her with him on his lap and wrapped the blanket tight around them before she could protest. And then she did. 'What!? Let me go!' She tried to struggle out of his embrace. 'Quit being stubborn! You want to freeze to death?' 'You just want to get your dirty hands on me you hentai!' 'Yes I do!' he said and she stopped struggling, not expecting that response. 'I think you're so pretty I'd love to watch you all day long. I think you have a really hot body with your white and yellow fur that I want to hold close to me all day long, not to mention look into your sexy red eyes. And I wish I could make you fall for me so you'd want to be my sweet girl. But all that doesn't matter now as we have to survive this cold storm first and then try to get back home. When we're safe and warm you can smash my face in as hard as you like, until then I'm not going to let you go freeze yourself to death for some stupid reason!' He let out an angry sigh. 'Geez! Getting killed by your parents because I touched you has at least more honour than because I let you turn into a popsicle.' The wind howled behind the wood and hay as he counted, trying to calm down and she fidgetted with her fingers, pouting. 'What makes you think I'll fall for you?' she asked after a while. 'I don't.' 'But-' 'I said I wish. I don't think being a nice guy will impress an adventurous girl. Especially when he's a hairless baka.' 'I think you're not a particular nice guy, does that help?' 'I don't know. If I glue shedded fur all over myself, would I have more chance as a not so nice, hairy baka? She snickered at the image in her head. 'I don'think so.' 'Then I'll stick to my clean concious and skin thank-you-very-much.' She felt herself getting warm and comfortable. He didn't look at her but when the blanket slipped from her shoulder he noticed and tucked her back in. She could see from his face he had to keep from thinking about her to avoid an embarrassing situation. "He's really serious." she thought. "He knows if father finds out he'll get killed if he's lucky. And he still protects me. But what's he thinking? That I could go for a human? He's pretty strong, but not as much as us. Okay, he is nice, and it does take courage to do what he just did, but you'd have to be stupid to do this. Who'd in their right mind would forfeit their life for a princess that's out of their league? None of the other guys at the castle would do that. He'd have to be insane thinking we could be together, let alone have kids. Just insane. Just..." 'Argh!' she shouted, startling him and he looked dumbfounded at her. 'And then what!?' 'Then what what?' he asked, feeling confused. 'What will you say to father? How are you going to explain his daughter getting together with a human? Or do you just want to wait and then have me say one day "Guess what dad? I'm pregnant, and oh yeah, he's the father."?' He still looked at her trying to sort out what she just said. 'Have you even thought about any of that?' she asked. He shook his head. 'No, because I didn't even think you could like me that much. I didn't even dare to think you'd want to start a family with me.' 'I...' she started, and then she realised what she had just said, looked down and felt her face turn hot. 'I just cornered myself, eh?' He smiled softly. 'Hearing you just made me happy, and if you want to take it back it's okay. I'll cherish the moment and we'll never talk about it again if you don't want to.' 'Wimp!' she said and punched him. 'Why can't you be more selfish and ignore what I say?' 'Because the last thing I want is for you to hate me.' He cupped her cheek, kissed her and she went along with his passion. When he nuzzled her softly he said, 'But now that I know I can steal your love I'm determined to keep it forever.' 'WHAT!?' the white tiger king roared, making the throne room vibrate. 'You dare to come in here and ask what!?' Triok coughed. 'Your daughter's hand in marriage.' The king grabbed the sword from his guard next to him when a messenger ran in. 'Your majesty! King Rudolph!' 'What? King Rudolph? What are you talking about? Speak up man!' The messenger took a deep breath. 'King Rudolph is here. And he's not looking happy.' 'You!' he pointed his sword at Triok. 'I'll deal with you after this.' He gave the sword back to the guard and straightened his posture. King Rudolph of the human country and he both knew that any quarrel between the two species would lead to war easily, so they'd have talks as soon as something came up. The door opened and in walked king Rudolph with his queen and two guards. 'King Rudolph! what brings you here all of a sudden?' 'My son actually. I just got word he wants to marry your daughter. What's going on here king Walden?' 'Your son!? Is this some kind of joke? What's with these humans going after my girl all of a sudden!?' 'Huh?' King Rudolph asked. 'Him!' He pointed at Triok who had stepped back. The king looked at Triok. 'Triok!?' 'You know him?' 'That's my son.' King Walden raised an eyebrow. 'That's your son?' Triok stepped a bit forward giving a shy wave and embarrassed smile. 'Hi dad.' 'Don't you hi dad me! When I let you go on your trip to find a suitable princess and strengthen our kingdom this was not what I had in mind!' 'You are the prince?' Mirain asked. 'I thought you were interested in me, but you came here just to get more power!?' 'No, I-' she slapped him, turned around and walked hurridly out the door. He stared after her, rubbing his cheek. 'That's it! I'll have his head for that!' king Walden shouted. 'Shush dear.' queen Mara said and walked down the steps toward Triok. 'I think your mother and I will have to sort this out, you do what you have to do.' He bowed quickly and ran in the direction Mirain went. The queens got together and sat down ordering tea. 'What do you say about the wedding taking place on the lake between our borders?' 'Wait a minute!' king Walden started but was quickly stared down into a kitten by the queens. 'Mirain's mother and I have been talking for quite a while now about our children, how come you men didn't know about this?' 'Well.., I've been busy...' king Rudolph started, looking for help at king Walden who scratched the back of his head. 'Yeah, you know, kingdom business and stuff...' A couple of the guards and servants couldn't hide their smiles and snickering. 'Out!' king Walden shouted. 'Everyone out! This is private business!' He saw her sitting at the pond, wiping away her tears. 'Mirain?' 'Go away.' 'Why are you mad? What did I do?' 'What did you do!? You just want to get a larger kingdom, thinking you can use me to get ours!' 'Ah.' he said and watched the scenery. She turned around. 'Ah!? Is that all you have to say? No apology for deceiving me, telling me you don't want a kingdom but only me!?' He smiled at her. 'What!?' 'You already know me.' he said and sat down in front of her. 'I do apologise for not telling, but I wanted to get you on my own. Besides, knowing my father he'd disown me so there would be no kingdom left for me anyway.' He grabbed into a pocket and pulled out a plain gold ring. 'I bought this with what I saved during the time I was here. Seeing this is all the riches I have left I've got to ask you again, will you live with me, a poor peasant?' He scratched his chin. 'I could become a farmer, and I'm pretty good with tools so I'm sure I can make us a decent living. And I have to make sure the kids get a good education. I'm thinking about that place between the lake and the mountains, it has good lands and the view is perfect from our house.' She puffed up her cheeks. 'You've got it all figured out, eh?' 'Well, yeah. I didn't expect to have anything left but you after dad found out. And I strongly doubted yours would welcome me with open arms so I knew I had to learn the traits for a living when I fell for you.' 'And what made you think I would choose you over my princess lifestyle?' 'Knowing you're smart enough to imagine any consequences of kissing me.' he grinned a little deviously. She punched him. 'I hate you, you know?' He held out the gold ring. 'Yes. so will you hate me for the rest of our lives? Until death do us part?' She leaned over to him and kissed him. He stroked her soft back as she was snuggled up on his lap. 'You know, I think you really made it into the history books.' Mirain said. 'Howso?' 'First marriage between our species, first one to be part time king, farmer and inventor.' He smiled. 'I feel pretty proud, even if that wouldn't make it into the books.' They enjoyed the sunset in front of the farmer's house he build at the spot between the lake and mountains he wanted. 'I'm just glad my younger brother and your sister are capable of running each half of the country while we're here.' She nodded. 'She doesn't like him though. Always arguing over petty stuff.' 'Yeah. Runs in the family. It's good to know they'll be happy together later.' |
